Description: Transit is an important part of a community’s economic growth and empowering community members with commuting and transportation options, access to different businesses, etc. The guidebook highlights the importance of working with community land developers and local governments to integrate transit support facilities maximize benefits and meet the needs of the local community.
Objectives: The objective of this paper is to give a thorough guideline on how to effectively set goals as a community and how to develop transit facilities to meet these goals. The guidebook provides case studies of different development projects that have been successful in Oregon. This guide does not provide framework for transit policies itself but rather transit facilities.
Findings: Case studies from Oregon highlight that there are several factors that need to be considered in order to make most use of transit facilities. These are things like meeting regulations about environment, ensuring that things are feasible, ensuring that community integration is done well for the facilities to be a good enough investment, etc.
Recommendations: Other small cities can incorporate such policies and also cater to other factors present in specific communities.
